Best Ranger and other Stories with LTG(R) David E. Grange Jr.

In 2015, we had the privilege of sitting in on an interview with LTG(R) David E. Grange Jr. — one of the most decorated Rangers in U.S. Army history. He talked about his service, the Best Ranger Competition that bears his name, and where he sees the Army heading. It was the kind of conversation you don't forget.

The footage sat in the vault for a few years while we figured out the best way to get it in front of the people who'd appreciate it most. Worth the wait.

Who Is LTG(R) David E. Grange Jr.?

If you need a quick brief: 41 years of service, 20 campaigns across three wars, inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame. A Ranger-qualified infantryman who led from the front through Korea, Vietnam, and beyond. The Best Ranger Competition — one of the most grueling two-man team events in the Army — is named in his honor.

For those who speak the language, here's a look at what that career looks like on a uniform:

The Stories Series

We worked with Candyss Bryant — a true cornerstone of the Ranger community who conducted the original interview — to go back through the footage and break it into focused segments. Each video covers a different topic: a specific campaign, a lesson learned, a perspective on what Ranger excellence actually looks like.

Twenty videos in total. We added title cards, reference photos, and light editing to make each one stand on its own. The first dropped just before the 2018 Best Ranger Competition. Start here:

The full series is rolling out on our YouTube Channel and the Best Ranger Competition Facebook Page. Twenty parts. Don't miss them.
