"Rakkasans" refers to the U.S. Army's 187th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed by the Japanese for their parachute jumps during the post-WWII occupation. The name, which means "falling umbrella," was earned because Japanese locals observed the soldiers descending with parachutes... our custom design on a sweet woven blanket.
