I can remember being young and looking at patches from Army Units. At that time, there was no Special Forces tab, only the current patch with most of the guys also wearing the Ranger Tab (if they had it) above the patch itself. The fascination with the 'heraldry' of the units and how most of them had largely remained the same since Vietnam.
We get a lot of requests for specialized posters that Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen have been using as PCS or ETS awards for their buddies as they move down range to the next objective so we wanted to do something a little more personal - it would allow members of the unit to personalize the posters by signing it and also giving a standard sizing so they could easily have it framed with no special sizing.
We have a few items with patches like the Vietnam LRRP poster as well as the Korean War Ranger Poster and a lot of Airborne Unit Posters but we wanted to do something a little different. These were drawn by hand as it's so difficult to get a great photo of actual patches.
We use a multi-cam type pattern with distress to represent the endless deployments over the past 10+ years. We recreated the patches in high resolution to show not only the detail of the work, but also the vibrant colors and special meaning of each.
